Report: Netanyahu Received Warnings of Hamas Attack Days Before October 7
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was reportedly warned about a possible major Hamas operation roughly 10 days before the October 7 attack, according to an Israeli newspaper report. The report says UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed raised concerns directly with Netanyahu after intelligence suggested Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was preparing a major operation. Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel reportedly delivered a separate warning around the same period. Former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar and former military chief Herzi Halevi said they were not informed of the reported conversation with the UAE leader. The report also claims Bar had earlier warned Netanyahu that Israel was on a “collision course” and recommended stronger defences or offensive action. Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has publicly said he believes the report is accurate. Netanyahu reportedly maintained that Israel was prepared and did not mention the foreign warnings during a later security discussion.
