South East Records Lowest Food-Crisis Figures Among Six Zones
Cadre Harmonisé figures for October to December 2026 show that the South East recorded the lowest number of people classified in the Food Crisis phase among Nigeria's six geopolitical zones. The region recorded 1,081,239 people in crisis, compared with 8,716,217 in the North West, 5,375,418 in the North East, 4,755,850 in the North Central, 3,616,561 in the South West and 1,882,220 in the South South. The figures cover 26 states and the FCT. They refer only to the Food Crisis phase and exclude people classified in Emergency or Famine phases. The data highlights major regional differences in food insecurity, but does not mean the South East is free from food-security challenges.
