Why Satan’s War in Heaven Did Not Challenge God’s Power
This reflection argues that the conflict described in Revelation 12 was not a battle between Satan and God. It presents Satan’s defeat as a struggle against Michael and the angels under Michael’s command, while God remained fully sovereign over the limits, venue and outcome. It also challenges the common interpretation that Satan took one-third of God’s angels. The passage refers to stars cast down by the dragon, and the writer argues that this does not prove Satan captured one-third of all angels. Satan’s opposition is instead directed at God’s people and servants, not at God as an equal rival. Drawing on Job, James and Revelation, the message says God can permit a bounded contest without being surprised or threatened by it. It concludes that God’s knowledge and power remain absolute, and calls believers to worship Him.
