How I Registered My Business Name With CAC Without Using a Lawyer

I registered my business name through the Corporate Affairs Commission portal without using a lawyer, agent or middleman. The process involved creating an account, checking that my proposed name was available, completing the registration form, uploading my ID, passport photograph and signature, then paying the required fees. My application was approved within 48 hours after I corrected a few mistakes. The main issues to avoid are choosing an already registered name, uploading unclear documents, selecting the wrong business category, entering details that do not match your ID, and paying before reviewing the form carefully. A business-name registration can be completed personally if you follow the requirements. However, official fees, requirements and processing times may change, so confirm the current details directly with CAC before making payment. This guide is based on my experience and is intended to help small-business owners avoid unnecessary charges.
