Pentagon Weighs Targeted Raids in Iran as 3,500 Marines Deploy to Gulf

The Pentagon is reportedly drawing up contingency plans for limited ground operations in Iran. These proposals would focus on targeted special-forces raids rather than a full-scale invasion. Roughly 3,500 additional U.S. troops have arrived in the Middle East aboard the USS Tripoli. President Trump has not approved any such mission and has repeatedly downplayed the idea of deploying ground forces.
