Bodhana Sivanandan Meets Woman Grandmaster Requirements at 11, Sets Record

British chess prodigy Bodhana Sivanandan has become the youngest player to meet the requirements for the Woman Grandmaster title at age 11. She surpassed the previous age record set by Kateryna Lagno, who achieved the milestone at 12. Sivanandan secured her third and final norm after scoring eight points from 11 games at the Chess Olympiad. The achievement adds to a remarkable year in which she also became the youngest winner of the British Women’s Chess Championship. She began playing chess during the 2020 lockdown and says she enjoys both the competition and the opportunity to travel. Her next ambition is to pursue the open Grandmaster title.
