Anambra Police Introduce Checkpoint Monitoring to Curb Extortion
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Oji Ama, has introduced a monitoring system to strengthen oversight of police checkpoints, patrol teams and other operations across the state. The initiative followed feedback from security stakeholders in Anambra’s three senatorial districts. Operational Control Rooms will monitor deployments, while Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and tactical commanders will be held accountable for officers under their supervision. The police command says complaints of extortion, harassment and other misconduct will be received and escalated for action. The CP warned that any officer found abusing members of the public or engaging in extortion will face disciplinary measures.
