FG Says Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Will Cover All States as Planned
The Presidency has denied claims that parts of the 750-kilometre Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway will be abandoned in favour of the existing East-West Road. It said the full dualised coastal highway will be built according to the original plan. The proposed reconstruction of about 400 kilometres of the East-West Road, from Edo to Cross River, is a separate project that will run alongside it. The clarification follows concerns that some Niger Delta states and coastal communities could be left out of the highway’s original alignment. The government said repairs to the flood-prone and badly damaged East-West Road would not affect completion of the coastal route.
