Black Market Sets Guinness World Record as 51,000 Attend Lagos Premiere

Nollywood crime thriller Black Market has set a Guinness World Record for the most-attended single-location film screening. More than 51,000 people gathered at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos on 26 September 2026, surpassing the previous record of 43,624 set in 2015. The outdoor premiere drew film stars, government officials and thousands of movie lovers. The cast includes Lateef Adedimeji, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Scarlet Gomez, Omowunmi Dada, Uzor Arukwe, Ibrahim Yekini, Susan Pwajok and Mike Afolarin. Directed by Fatimah Binta Gimsay and produced by Nora Awolowo, the film follows market women involved in a cross-border fuel-smuggling operation whose lives become more dangerous after a rival gang enters the picture. Black Market is due for a nationwide cinema release.
