Nine people died after a commercial Toyota bus collided with a sand-carrying MAN diesel tipper near Zangoro village on the Bauchi-Maiduguri Federal Highway. The crash occurred at about 11:20 p.m. on Monday, August 3. The Federal Road Safety Corps said all 17 people involved were male adults. Nine victims were burnt beyond recognition, while eight others sustained injuries. FRSC officials identified a tyre burst as the likely cause of the crash. The injured were taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the morgue. Most of the victims were reportedly from Darazo Local Government Area.
