Umahi Gives Contractors 72-Hour Deadline to Mobilise on Abuja-Lokoja Road

Umahi Gives Contractors 72-Hour Deadline to Mobilise on Abuja-Lokoja Road

The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has threatened to report contractors to the police and the EFCC if they fail to deploy funds and start work on the Abuja-Lokoja highway. He issued a strict 72-hour ultimatum for full mobilisation, while also criticising supervising engineers for skipping site inspections in favour of office work. With more than 90% of the road severely damaged, Umahi warned that the situation will worsen without urgent action. He also pledged to remove any ministry official who neglects project oversight. Leaders of the House and Senate Works Committees backed his call for accountability. They urged timely payments and closer field supervision to deliver results.
