Bello El-Rufai Thanks Peter Obi for Checking on His Detained Father

Kaduna North lawmaker Mohammed Bello El-Rufai says Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, Rabiu Kwankwaso and other political figures contacted him to ask about his father, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. He said Obi’s regular calls stood out because he had previously criticised the former Anambra governor. Bello El-Rufai described the gesture as a personal lesson in maturity and political relationships. Nasir El-Rufai has faced several corruption and security-related charges since his February 2026 arrest. His son said the former governor has used his time in detention to read, reflect and plan ahead.
