Premier League Explains Why Madueke Escaped Red Card Against Liverpool
The Premier League has explained why Arsenal winger Noni Madueke was not sent off after clashing with Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister during Arsenal’s win at Anfield. Madueke, who had already been booked, confronted Mac Allister after a foul on Martin Odegaard. The two players went head-to-head, but referee Andy Madley took no action against Madueke and instead booked Mac Allister and Jurrien Timber. The league’s match centre said VAR reviewed the incident and agreed that Madueke’s contact was not forceful, violent or brutal enough to amount to violent conduct. Gary Neville also backed the decision, saying Mac Allister went down too easily.
