Ukodhiko Debunks Ozoro ‘Rape Festival’ Rumours After Palace Visit
Rep. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko visited the palace of His Royal Majesty Anthony Uvietobore Ogbogbo to investigate viral claims of a so-called “rape festival” in Ozoro. Community leaders confirmed that no rape occurred during the Uruamudhu festival. They said a few miscreants harassed some young women, but vigilant youths and motorcycle riders stopped any attempt at sexual violence. Ukodhiko condemned the false narrative and rejected any link between Isoko culture and such acts. He praised the monarch, the Ozoro Progress Union leadership, the Delta State Governor, and security agencies for their swift cooperation. He urged media houses and social media users to verify information before sharing. He stressed that cultural festivals unite communities and that isolated criminal acts will be punished, not swept under the carpet.
