Captain, Two Soldiers Killed in IED Blast in Borgu, Niger State
A captain and two soldiers lost their lives when their patrol van struck an improvised explosive device on a routine mission in Maciyan-Kyada village, Babanna ward, Borgu LGA, Niger State. The blast, believed to have been set by terrorists, also left two other soldiers seriously injured. A security source speaking to Daily Trust confirmed the patrol left Babanna town around 10am on July 7, 2026. A local resident named one of the fallen soldiers as Yusuf Kabir and said the incident has heightened tension in the area. Military authorities have not yet released an official statement.
