Mariam Bolaji Wins Peru Para Badminton International Gold Without Dropping a Game
Nigeria’s Mariam Bolaji has won the Women’s Singles SL3 title at the 2026 Peru Para Badminton International in Lima. The Paralympic bronze medallist beat Brazil’s Kauana Beckenkamp 21–12, 21–12 in the final. She won all four matches in straight games and conceded only 47 points throughout the tournament. The triumph adds to Bolaji’s strong 2026 campaign, following gold in Egypt and silver medals at the World Championships in Bahrain and the British & Irish Para-Badminton International. She remains the first African athlete to win an Olympic or Paralympic badminton medal, a feat she achieved at Paris 2024.
