Tyabo: Niger Tornadoes’ Win Over Ikorodu City Is Crucial to NPFL Push

Niger Tornadoes coach Umar Tyabo says his side’s 2-1 home win over Ikorodu City is a major boost to their ambition of climbing the Nigeria Premier Football League table. Nafiu Obalowu gave the Minna-based side the lead before Bashir Musa added a second late in the game at the Bako Kontagora Stadium. Basit Ayinde scored in stoppage time for Ikorodu City, but Tornadoes held on for all three points. Tyabo said the team treated the match like a cup final after an unconvincing home record of two wins and two draws. He added that the late goalkeeping error was a lesson the squad must learn from as the newly assembled team continues to build understanding.
