1 / 3

U.S. Central Command says it carried out a major wave of strikes on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targets in Iran on July 29. The targets reportedly included command centres, missile and drone facilities, coastal surveillance sites and maritime assets. CENTCOM said the operation followed an alleged attempted Iranian ballistic-missile attack on U.S. forces in the Middle East a day earlier. According to the command, all missiles launched in the alleged July 28 attack were intercepted. The U.S. says the strikes were intended to reduce threats to its personnel, commercial shipping and Gulf countries.

What does CENTCOM mean by a "major wave" here, and is there any indication of how Iran might respond?

The reported target list is broad, covering command, missile, drone, surveillance and maritime sites. That suggests a much wider operation than a symbolic strike.

Even if the alleged missile attack prompted this, official claims from one side alone do not settle the full picture or likely consequences.

Worth following updates from multiple credible outlets and watching for confirmation of damage, casualties, and any escalation around maritime routes.
