Could Yorubas Face the Same Fate as Igbos?
The Igbo leadership fought early to keep Nigeria one. In 1966, Isaac Adaka Boro’s Niger Delta Republic was crushed by federal and Igbo forces. A year later, Odimegwu Ojukwu faced a similar downfall after declaring Biafra. Decades later, Nnamdi Kanu formed a security outfit to protect the Southeast from Fulani militia. Prominent Yoruba voices opposed it and a Yoruba judge handed Kanu a life sentence. Today, some Yoruba communities are organising their own security groups against Fulani attacks. History suggests they could face consequences similar to those the Igbo once endured.
