Ohanaeze Calls for Federal Dialogue on South-East Demands Before 2027
Ohanaeze Ndigbo has urged the Federal Government to begin a structured political dialogue with South-East leaders before the 2027 general elections. The group said Ndigbo needs clear commitments on political representation, infrastructure and economic development rather than broad promises. It argued that the region should know the Federal Government’s position on key issues before the next election. Among the issues listed are the creation of an additional South-East state, rail connectivity, maritime development, economic integration, national reconciliation and constitutional reforms. Ohanaeze said the proposed engagement should focus on accountability, clarity and realistic outcomes.
