Yari Says Nigerians’ Hunger Is Partly Linked to Laziness
Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, drew reactions after saying that laziness was partly responsible for hunger in Nigeria. He made the remarks at an APC presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Yari argued that people should not blame the government alone for their economic difficulties. He said some Nigerians, particularly young people, were reluctant to farm, learn vocational skills or take up other productive work, and instead expected financial assistance. He contrasted this with an earlier generation, which he said relied more on farming and manual labour to provide food and income.
