Osimhen Set for Galatasaray Return Ahead of Barcelona Champions League Test

Galatasaray expect Victor Osimhen to return against Kasımpaşa on October 9 after nearly a month out with a right adductor strain. The Nigerian striker was injured during the club's 3-2 derby win over İstanbul Başakşehir on September 4. Before the injury, Osimhen recorded six goals and two assists in his first four Süper Lig matches of the 2026/27 season. Galatasaray scored only twice in three matches without him, losing to Trabzonspor in the league and Sporting CP in the Champions League. His proposed return would give Galatasaray a vital boost ahead of their Champions League home match against Barcelona four days later. The injury also forced Osimhen to withdraw from Nigeria's 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, with Taiwo Awoniyi called up as his replacement.
