The Rivers State University Teaching Hospital recently observed World Skin Health Day 2026 in partnership with the Nigerian Association of Dermatologists’ Rivers and Bayelsa state branches. Professor Chizindu A. Alikor, the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, opened the event with a call for preventive care. Dermatology experts from tertiary hospitals delivered lectures on diagnosing, treating, preventing and managing both common and complex skin diseases. They stressed that early detection and professional intervention are vital for effective care and urged the public to avoid self-medication. The IDU Conference Hall was filled to capacity as attendees engaged in discussions and interactive sessions. The event’s success highlights ongoing efforts to boost public health awareness and strengthen specialist skin care services in Rivers State.
