Former Kogi Governor Ibrahim Idris Dies in UK at 77
Former Kogi State Governor Ibrahim Idris, popularly known as Ibro, has died in the United Kingdom at the age of 77 after a prolonged illness. Idris governed Kogi State on the Peoples Democratic Party platform from 2003 to 2012. His time in office was briefly interrupted after the 2007 governorship election was nullified, but he won the re-run in 2008 and returned to office. He was Kogi’s second democratically elected governor and one of its longest-serving civilian leaders. Before politics, he built business interests in construction, furniture manufacturing and hospitality.
