Obosi Union Leader Backs Soludo’s Proposed Fourth Tier for Anambra Communities
The President-General of Obosi Development Union Worldwide, Chimezie Obi, has backed Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s proposed law to establish Community Administrations and formally recognise town unions as a fourth tier of governance in Anambra State. Obi said the reform could bring development planning closer to residents by giving communities a clearer role in setting priorities, executing projects, improving security and monitoring public funds. He noted that town unions have long supported schools, healthcare, roads and other local projects. He called for the law to clearly define the separate roles of traditional rulers and town-union executives. According to him, a strong legal framework could reduce leadership conflicts, improve accountability and expand the involvement of women, youths and Anambra indigenes in the diaspora.
