Gasperini Fires Back at Mourinho After Roma’s 4-3 Loss to Real Madrid

Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini has rejected Jose Mourinho’s claim that Roma’s players were exhausted during Real Madrid’s late 4-3 Champions League comeback. Roma led 3-1 deep into the second half before Real Madrid rallied through contributions from Arda Güler, Endrick, Carlos Espí and Antonio Rüdiger. Gasperini said Roma were the better side for most of the match and argued that Madrid, not his players, struggled to maintain the intensity. He added that Roma could have scored more despite the defeat. Real Madrid are eighth in the Champions League standings after two wins from two matches and will face RB Leipzig on October 21.
