Should Women Learn Skills as a Backup Plan for Divorce?

Learning a beneficial, halal skill is valuable, but framing it around the expectation of divorce can shape how people view marriage. Marriage should be built on affection, mercy, trust and cooperation. Skills, education and productive work should be encouraged because they benefit individuals, families and society, not because marriage is treated as an unreliable arrangement. A better question may be: what knowledge, character and sense of responsibility are you bringing into your marriage to help it thrive? Divorce can happen, and having a lawful means of support remains important, but it should not become the foundation of every conversation about women learning skills. Muslims should assess relationship advice through the Qur'an and Sunnah rather than accepting every popular social-media opinion without reflection. Marriage and useful skills are both blessings; neither should be promoted at the expense of the other.
