Nigeria’s Falconets began their 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup campaign with a 2-0 defeat to Spain in Sosnowiec, Poland. Marisa García gave Spain the lead in the 13th minute after the Europeans started strongly and controlled much of the first half. Nigeria struggled to create clear chances but went into the break only one goal behind. Alba Cerrato sealed Spain’s victory in the 72nd minute. The Falconets now need a positive result against China PR on September 10 before their final Group F match against New Caledonia.
