Glasgow 2026: Nigeria’s Abduljabar Adama Reaches 50m Freestyle Semi-Finals
Nigeria’s Abduljabar Adama has qualified for the men’s 50m freestyle semi-finals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The Nigerian record holder clocked 22.67 seconds to finish third in his heat. Australia’s Flynn Southam won in 22.03 seconds, while England’s Jacob Mills was second with 22.40 seconds. Fellow Nigerian Clinton Opute finished sixth in his heat with a time of 23.15 seconds. He is the second reserve and could still reach the semi-finals if a qualified swimmer withdraws. Adama’s progress builds on Team Nigeria’s strong opening day, when the country won six medals—three gold and three silver—in para powerlifting.
