APC Leadership May Refer Wike-Governors Rift to Tinubu

The APC leadership is reportedly preparing to brief President Bola Tinubu on the growing disagreement between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and several APC governors when he returns to Nigeria. The dispute followed the governors’ resolution that they would support only candidates officially sponsored by the APC in the 2027 elections. The position was widely viewed as a response to Wike’s Rainbow Coalition, which backs Tinubu’s re-election while allowing support for candidates from other parties in state and legislative contests. Wike has insisted that supporting Tinubu does not mean he has left the PDP. Party and Presidency sources say Tinubu is expected to intervene, as APC leaders seek to prevent the disagreement from affecting the party’s preparations for the 2027 polls.
