Liverpool came from behind to beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 at Anfield in their opening Champions League match. Liverpool levelled the match five minutes before half-time when Dominik Szoboszlai finished a move that followed Jan Oblak’s save. Alexis Mac Allister completed the turnaround five minutes after the restart, firing home after Alexander Isak inadvertently set him up in the box. Atletico pressed for an equaliser late on, while Liverpool had a third goal ruled out for offside, but the hosts held on for the win.
