Val Chmerkovskiy Suspended From Dancing With the Stars Over Social Media Post

Val Chmerkovskiy has been suspended from Dancing With the Stars for one week after a social media post about judge Carrie Ann Inaba drew criticism. The professional dancer will miss the Dedication Night episode on October 20, 2026. His celebrity partner, Jenna Dewan, is expected to perform with Alan Bersten instead. The controversy followed Inaba's critique of a samba by Jenna Johnson and Harry Shum Jr. Chmerkovskiy's deleted post was widely interpreted as referencing the Will Smith Oscars incident. BBC Studios said the comment was inappropriate and did not meet the standards expected on the show. Chmerkovskiy later issued a public apology to Inaba.
