Supreme Court Clears Way for Unity Bank-Providus Merger

Supreme Court Clears Way for Unity Bank-Providus Merger

The Supreme Court has approved the merger of Unity Bank and Providus Bank, ending the legal dispute that stalled the deal. Shareholders from both banks endorsed the merger at an Extraordinary General Meeting in September 2025. The Central Bank of Nigeria had already given its consent. With the court’s decision, the combined institution can be officially formed. The new bank is expected to rank among Nigeria’s largest, and further announcements on its structure and timeline will follow.
