‘Every Step Was on Blood’: Rev. Dachomo’s Harrowing Account of the Angwan Rukuba Attack
Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo visited Angwan Rukuba in Jos North after gunmen stormed the community and left at least 27 people dead. He described scenes of blood, bodies torn apart and families in deep anguish. Eyewitnesses said the attackers, dressed in military camouflage and riding motorcycles, opened fire around 7:30 p.m. Fourteen people died instantly. By the next day, thirteen more succumbed to their wounds in the hospital. “The ground cried louder than the people,” Dachomo said. Mothers wailed as young men stood in shock. At Jos University Teaching Hospital, he found survivors clinging to life and at the morgue he saw cold, lifeless bodies lined up in silence. He pleaded for urgent action to stop the cycle of violence in Plateau State. “How long will innocent blood keep crying from the ground? It is time to rise,” he urged.
