How World Snooker Rankings Work
Every player on the World Snooker Tour has an official world ranking. The ranking determines tournament seedings and whether a player must compete in qualifying rounds. Rankings use a two-year rolling system based on prize money earned at designated events. As new results are added, points from the corresponding tournaments two years earlier are removed. The top 16 players are usually exempt from qualifying for major events such as the Masters and World Snooker Championship. Players in the top 64 are guaranteed a place on the tour for the following season, alongside selected players who qualify through tour cards and seasonal earnings.
