Lagos Police Foil Ejigbo Kidnap Plot, Neutralise Four Gang Members
In May 2026, operatives of the Lagos State Police Command under CP Fatai Tijani intercepted a planned kidnapping in Ejigbo. Four members of the 2024 Ladipo Kidnap Gang were killed in a fierce gunfight after they opened fire on the tactical team. Recovered at the scene were a Toyota Sienna, an AK-47 rifle with loaded magazines, a submachine gun, and keys to other vehicles linked to previous abductions. One suspect escaped with gunshot wounds, and an Inspector sustained an injury to his leg but is now recovering in hospital. CP Tijani said the breakthrough resulted from precise intelligence work. He vowed to track down the fleeing suspect and dismantle all syndicate cells, warning that Lagos State would remain hostile to kidnappers and armed gangs.
