Should I Pause My Software Engineering Degree to Join the Military?
I am a 200-level Software Engineering student at Nigerian Army University Biu. Due to serious financial difficulties, I am considering leaving school temporarily to join the Armed Forces, become financially stable and possibly continue my education later through the military. I need honest advice from people who have served or are currently serving. Is joining as a recruit a wise move when I already have a university degree in progress? I would like to understand the salary, career progression, opportunities for further education and whether returning to university later is realistic. I am especially interested in the Military Police or Provost side. Can someone enter that area as a recruit, and what is the process for eventually being posted into Provost duties? Please share the advantages, disadvantages and practical realities I should consider before making this decision.
