Dangote Refinery Hikes Petrol Price to ₦1,175/L, Third Increase in a Week
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has raised its gantry price for Premium Motor Spirit to ₦1,175 per litre. This marks the third petrol price hike within seven days. The refinery also adjusted Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) to ₦1,620 per litre. A senior official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said market fundamentals and volatile replacement costs drove the decision. Retail stations in many states now charge above ₦1,000 per litre, with some quoting around ₦1,200. Higher fuel costs are set to push up transport, logistics, and production expenses for businesses nationwide. The Federal Government and NNPC are seeking crude supply from international traders to sustain refinery output. Officials warn, however, that these efforts may not bring immediate relief to consumers.
