APC Can Lose Elections Under Tinubu Without Crisis, Sanwo-Olu Says
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu says the APC's loss in the Osun governorship election shows that Nigeria's democracy is becoming stronger under President Bola Tinubu. Speaking at an annual democracy lecture in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu said the ruling party could lose an election in the South-West without the use of “federal might” or any threat to national stability. He said this reflected Tinubu's democratic credentials. The governor urged INEC to prepare fully for the 2027 elections and warned politicians against violence and electoral malpractice. He said no political office or victory was worth the life of any Nigerian. Sanwo-Olu also called on voters to judge leaders by performance and asked the media to challenge misinformation and hold all political leaders accountable.
