Ibom Air Chief Pilot Ruth Adebanwo Flies New Airbus A220-300 From Canada to Uyo
Captain Ruth Adeola Adebanwo, Ibom Air’s Chief Pilot, flew the airline’s newly delivered Airbus A220-300 from Mirabel, Canada, to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The journey covered about 8,945 kilometres and ended at Victor Attah International Airport, where aviation officials, dignitaries and residents gathered to welcome the aircraft. Reports describe her as the first woman to fly a brand-new aircraft into Nigeria. Captain Adebanwo began her aviation career as a cabin crew member before training as a pilot in South Africa. With more than 20 years of industry experience, she has worked with Aero Contractors, Arik Air and Ibom Air, building a career that now sees her lead Ibom Air’s flight crew.
