NPA Expands Export Processing to Ease Delays and Grow Forex Inflows
The Nigerian Ports Authority says it is expanding export channels, speeding up cargo processing and improving port access to help non-oil exporters earn more foreign exchange. The agency says Inland Dry Ports will now fall under its management, allowing exporters in northern and central Nigeria to complete port clearance and documentation closer to their businesses instead of first moving goods to coastal ports. Dedicated Export Processing Terminals are also being used as one-stop centres for sorting, packaging, quality certification and customs documentation. The reforms are expected to support exports of cocoa, sesame, cashew, hibiscus and solid minerals. The NPA says stronger collaboration with businesses, manufacturers and logistics operators will be needed to improve trade, investment and Nigeria's access to regional and global markets.
