7-Month-Old Girl Fatally Struck by Stray Bullet in Brooklyn Shooting
A tragic shooting in the East Williamsburg neighbourhood of Brooklyn on Wednesday afternoon left a 7-month-old girl dead. She and her 2-year-old brother were riding in a double stroller near Humboldt and Moore Streets when gunfire rang out. Their mother, Lianna Charles-Moore, feared fireworks at first. She shielded her son but found her daughter, Kaori, lying still with a head wound. Her two-year-old son was also grazed by a bullet and has been calling for his sister since the attack. Grandmother Linda Moore Oyinkoinyan, a public school teacher, collapsed after learning of her granddaughter’s death. Family members remember Kaori as a bubbly baby who had just begun to say “Mama” and was almost crawling. NYPD officials say the shooting was gang-related. Surveillance images show suspects firing from a moped before crashing nearby. A man of interest is in custody, and a citywide manhunt continues for the second suspect.
