Nigeria Unveils 25-Athlete Squad for 2026 Commonwealth Fencing Championships in Lagos
Nigeria has named a 25-member team for the 2026 Commonwealth Fencing Championships in Lagos from August 9 to 14. The competition will hold at Rugby School Nigeria in Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island. The squad includes 13 able-bodied athletes and 12 para fencers. UK-based sabreur Folayemi Akinyosoye will lead the men’s sabre team in the U-23 and senior events, while Adebodunrin Thomas is among the leading women’s épée competitors. Other members include Chizim Aninyei, Adegbola Babade, Wisdom Okanlawon, Oluwafiifehanmi Babatunde, Erinle Teniayo and Okpaleke Mekachi. The para-fencing team features six men and six women, all preparing to compete for Nigeria on home soil.
