Nigeria and China Explore New Film Distribution and Licensing Partnership
Officials from Nigeria’s National Film and Video Censors Board met with representatives of China’s film authorities during the 2026 Abuja International Film Festival to discuss closer cinema-sector cooperation. The talks covered possible distribution channels for Nigerian films in China, authorised exhibition of Chinese films in West Africa, simpler licensing procedures and compatible film-classification standards. The discussions also addressed training and technical support in film technology, curation and digital archiving. China’s film authorities invited the NFVCB leadership to continue the discussions in Beijing. Any final arrangement is expected to focus on formal licensing and classification protocols for films moving between both markets.
