I Feel Overwhelmed in My Relationship and Need Advice Before Ending It
I entered this relationship hoping to settle down and build a family. My fiancée already had a child, and I supported her and her son while we discussed marriage. I also helped her start a small baking business after she chose not to return to school, but the business did not last. After she became pregnant with our daughter and moved in with me, my finances became strained. I felt pressured by increasing household expenses, food costs and other demands, especially as my own business income began to decline. I also became unhappy with how we spoke to each other and felt disrespected in the home. The situation worsened when her mother came for omugwo and stayed longer than I expected. I left home for several days to clear my head, but this led to angry calls, insults and complaints to my family and neighbours that I had abandoned them. I am now considering ending the relationship, but I am worried about our baby and how to handle custody and responsibilities properly. I know I made mistakes, including rushing into major commitments without clear agreements about finances, work, boundaries and family involvement. I need honest advice on how to separate respectfully, support my child and avoid making the conflict worse.
