Defence Minister Explains How Troops Rescue Kidnap Victims Without Paying Ransom

Defence Minister Christopher Musa says security forces can rescue kidnapped victims by isolating terrorist hideouts, blocking escape routes and cutting off access to food, water and fuel. He said kidnappers often flee and abandon captives once they detect approaching troops or surveillance drones. Musa cited recent rescue operations in Kwara State and other parts of northern Nigeria as examples. The minister also said ransom payments may help security agencies trace kidnapping networks through financial monitoring. He warned governors and lawmakers against distributing high-capacity motorcycles as palliatives or constituency projects, saying such bikes can be diverted to terrorists and used for rapid movement.
