10 Practical Lessons I Wish I Knew Before Marriage
Marriage is teamwork, and a few practical habits can save couples stress, money and unnecessary arguments. I wish someone had told me earlier to get health insurance, keep a trusted family doctor and lawyer, and seek domestic help when it is affordable. Hospital bills, emergencies and legal issues can quickly drain a family’s savings. I have also learnt to plan ahead. Buy regularly used items in bulk where possible, pay school fees early, and build an extra income stream. Money kept for an important expense can easily disappear when unexpected needs arise. Pay attention to your children’s school environment and friendships. Create time for family meetings too. Let your spouse and children speak honestly about what is working and what needs to improve. Nobody should feel ignored at home. Finally, open an email account for each child and save their photos and memories there from an early age. These small habits may not make marriage perfect, but they can make family life calmer and more prepared.
