Blessings Don’t Come Cheap: Lessons from Abraham’s Obedience

God’s blessings are priceless, yet they often demand sacrifice. In today’s reading from Genesis 22, Abraham’s willingness to obey God—even at the cost of offering his only son—reveals the depth of commitment required to receive divine favour. Just as Isaac had to work for his father’s blessing and the fig tree bore fruit to earn Christ’s favour, we too must serve God wholeheartedly. True blessings are provoked by obedient hearts and acts of service. When we bear fruit for God—through obedience, faith and selfless action—we position ourselves for mighty blessings that exceed our expectations. Remember, in God’s kingdom, nothing comes for free. Key Point: Wholehearted service and obedience to God unlock lasting blessings. Author: Pastor E. A. Adeboye
