My First Visit to a Renovated Primary Health Centre in Abia State
I had avoided government primary health centres and hospitals in Abia State for years because I believed they were poorly maintained, lacked basic equipment and had unprofessional staff. Like many residents, I preferred private clinics despite the higher cost. On 25 August 2026, I was unwell and my family doctor referred me to the Ngwa I Ward Primary Health Centre in Amaju Uru, Aba South. I was reluctant at first, but she assured me that the facility had good equipment and affordable services. My experience surprised me. The centre had equipment I did not expect to find in a public primary health facility. I completed several tests at a low cost and left satisfied. It was my first-hand experience, and it made me feel proud of the improvements in healthcare services in Abia State.
