Abia Court Jails 65-Year-Old Man for Impersonating a Lawyer, Defrauding Client

A Magistrate Court in Aba South, Abia State, has sentenced 65-year-old Iheanacho Emenike to three years' imprisonment for impersonating a lawyer and obtaining money under false pretences. Emenike pleaded guilty to falsely presenting himself as a legal practitioner, collecting ₦500,000 to prepare an irrevocable power of attorney, and using a purported Nigerian Bar Association seal. The court imposed one year, two years and three years respectively on the three counts. The sentences will run concurrently, leaving him to serve an effective three-year prison term without an option of fine.
